Muffins with Moms and Donuts with Dads
Donuts with Dads will take place in the Library on Thursday, March 6, 7:30-8:00 a.m.
Muffins with Moms will take place in the Library on Tuesday, March 11, 7:30-8:00 a.m.
PTO Selling Smencils
PTO will be selling Smencils on Thursday, March 6, and Tuesday, March 11, from 7:30-8:00 a.m., during Donuts for Dads and Muffins for Mom activity. Cost is $1 each.
Family Movie Night
On Friday, March 14, 7:00 p.m., the PTO is sponsoring a Family Movie Night at Southside. Bring a chair and blanket to watch Monsters University. Popcorn and drinks are provided.
Southside PTO will meet on Thursday, April 3, at noon.
Leader in Me Assembly/Benchmark Rally
The Leader in Me Assembly and Benchmark Rally will be held Friday, April 1, at 1:00 p.m.
4th Grade to JBU's "Day of Discovery"
Fourth grade Discovery students will attend John Brown University's "Day of Discovery" on Tuesday & Thursday, April 22 and 24.

Dan Skoff Presents the Weather
On Tuesday, November 5, meteorologist Dan Skoff, from KNWA TV, taught our 3rd graders about weather. Then on Tuesday, January 27, Mr. Skoff presented to the 4th graders. Thank you Mr. Skoff for the great information, not only on weather, but also on safety!
On Friday, January 17, an awesome group of Southsiders participated in the Special Olympics at the Jones Center. Here is a picture of our students at the Floor Hockey Special Olympics Event.
Southside Spelling Bee Winners
Southside's Spelling Bee took place on Friday, December 13. Our top champion, Tyler, will be heading to Northwest Arkansas Community College (NWACC) to participate in the Benton County Spelling Bee on Saturday, January 18, which is the next level of competition. Christian is our runner-up and alternate in case Tyler is not able to compete. Third grade champion is Keagan. Fourth grade champion is pictured.

Teacher of the Year 2013-2014
Charity Miller started teaching third grade in the Siloam Springs School District in 2005. During her first year, Charity taught a self-contained classroom as part of Southside East. When Southside East and West merged into Southside Elementary, Charity taught literacy for three years. The past four years she has had the privilege of teaching literacy in the all girls gender specific classroom. Read more...

Act 37 of the 2011 Arkansas General Assembly prohibits drivers from using handheld wireless telephones while operating motor vehicles when passing a school building or school zone during school hours when children are present and outside the building, except in cases of emergency.
